I spent a little time making this video to show a little more of what it's like to get a tattoo covered up.
Thank you Scott for trusting me through this process and dedicating yourself to make it through.
I've had a lot of fun with the guys in A Day to Remember over the years, honored to have made tattoos for them and to have been able to enjoy many adventures along the way. Love these dudes and I hope you all enjoy the little video we made.
When I was a kid, I remember hearing "No Rain" by Blind Melon and loving not only the song, but the video as well. So it inspired us to make this video with our kids for our new single "Left in the Rain".
Years ago, I began using my "spare" time in a more productive way with my wife Heidi and best friend Heath by focusing our time on writing music and enjoying our time by learning, practicing, and playing music together. When this began, I never imagined it would turn into this. Now having opportunities like this to make videos and music with our kids is probably the coolest thing ever. I never really imagined that it would inspire our kids so much along the way. I love having big dreams and I'm really excited to share those dreams with the people I love...
A few months ago I made this tattoo for my homie Steve Kopacz of the character Dwight Schrute on The Office. We thought it was pretty rad to see that the actor who plays this character, Rainn Wilson, also posted the tattoo image on his Instagram page as well. hahahahah I guess he likes it.
Christmas of 2015, my incredible wife surprised me with an amazing gift, which was an appointment to get tattooed by an artist I respect and admire, Peter Lagergren. She chose Peter for me because she noticed that every time I am looking on my Instagram feed, it is always his artwork that I make a comment about how amazing it is, so the connection was born and from there it seemed like it was meant to be, even if he did tattoo and live in Sweden, which is pretty far from Florida. I was honestly shocked and amazed by this surprise and excited to figure out what I was going to get tattooed on me, as well as being excited to meet him and hopefully pick his brain a little along the way. At this point I had no idea what to expect, I just knew I had a few appointments lined up and that we were in for another amazing adventure along the way.
The adventure began in September of 2016, when my wife Heidi Mae and I took our first trip to Europe together where we met Peter Lagergren for the first time along with his amazing wife and their children. Not only did we begin the tattoo, but also created many pretty amazing memories that I will always have a souvenir of as well.
In March of 2017 I went back to Sweden to finish the tattoo with Peter, only this time it was a trip with myself and my oldest son Jett (11 yrs old). I don't think that this is what either my wife or myself imagined when she surprised me with this tattoo gift, but what an amazing adventure it became along the way as well. My son and I decided to make this trip during is Spring Break from school and visit 4 different countries during the week. So we set off to the UK and visited London along with the rainy weather and classic site seeing, then to Copenhagen Denmark and saw canals, ate great food and a unique way of living before taking the train over the bridge into Malmo Sweden. This is home to Peter Lagergren whom I was getting tattooed by, which became a really amazing day beginning around 9am and getting tattooed for about 10 hours straight while Jett hung out with me and we all talked and had a great day. Jett even got to meet Peter's family as well, which was super cool to see our children playing video games together and communicating with each other, even though neither of them could understand the others language, just pure joy and good energy all around. After Sweden and the tattoo were complete, Jett and I traveled over to Paris for a few days before making our way back to the warm Florida weather that we were definitely missing by the end. hahah..
A few people have asked me how much money this tattoo ended up costing me, my honest answer to that would be that this tattoo is absolutely priceless to me. The experience and adventures along the way combined with the knowledge and inspiration gained from this... I can't wait to do it again.
Very honored to be asked to do an interview for Kerrang Magazine and proud to be along side my homie London Reese as well. The article never mentions our views on each other, but if they would have asked me I would have loved to tell them how great of a guy London is and how hard he works as well. Proud to call him a friend and he is a great tattooer and painter and great inspiration. Thank you London, Thank you Kerrang Magazine, and most importantly Thank you to everyone who has collected a tattoo from me along the way, in a band or not, I appreciate you all very much!
Sail Across the Sun is a cruise hosted annually by the band Train. A few years ago, my friend Jimmy, who plays guitar for Train, asked me if I would be interested in tattooing on their cruise, of course I said "Hell yeah" and so it began.. This year was the second year I tattooed on the cruise ship.
At the end of the day, the best part about what I get to do every day is make people happy..
Pat Monahan, the singer of Train, joined us to write out a few songs lyrics for fans to get tattooed.
Danny Derrick and I made this tattoo flash poster for the trip, we printed 100 limited edition, numbered posters for the cruise. I may have a few left and will put up for sale for cheap on the store page of the website until we run out of the remaining few for those who may want one.
I had a great time with my wife and did a lot of tattooing along the way, along with my friend Danny Derrick and his wife Michelle. We visited Costa Maya, Mexico, got a great sunburn, left with a few great memories, and made many new friends, Great Trip!
Couldn't be more excited about this project I've been working on for a really long time with 2 people that I love so very much. My best bud Heath Fowler and my beautiful wife Heidi Beasley and I just released the first song and video for our music group called Heidi Mae. We had a lot of help from our friend Steve Kopacs, Wild Light Films, who filmed this video as well as played drums on this recording. As well as Lee Dyess at Earthbound Recording Studio in Valdosta, Georgia who helped us track and mix everything, there's a lot more to come too, this is only the beginning, hope you enjoy. This is all independently created and produced by us, no labels just love..
